The Digital Village is selling NFT and parcels as independent metaverses. Thousands of independent, fully interoperable metaverses will form a multiverse.
Cybernews interviewed the CEO and founder of the Digital Village in 2020. Back then, Digital Village was the first entirely digital 3D fashion show held in Helsinki in late July 2020. Evelyn Mora believes that augmented reality (AR) will be huge and that the future is multidimensional, where holograms, tech, and real-life will be mixed.
Now she is proposing a borderless Web3 by building a multiverse made of thousands of independent metaverses.
Users can buy the digital twin of any area or zone of the Digital Village as an NFT and grow it as an independent Metaverse building its community within the Digital Village multiverse.
NFT owners can choose to make their metaverses public or private. They have access to the Digital Village environments, social tools, and in-game technologies.
Mora said that interoperability is the main focus and challenge right now in the industry.
“I have always been more interested in subcultures, tribes, and cultural communities rather than the large obvious actors. Instead of having only a number of metaverses interoperable, we can have thousands, hundreds of thousands, inspiring, diverse communities, ruling their metaverse and communities rather than just peace of land within the larger ecosystem,” Mora said.
The Digital Village mainland will stay fully curated, hosting events and other diverse activities.
The company’s head of product Shaun Ogilvy emphasized they are building a technology company, not an application.
“We believe the Digital Village multiverse can evolve into authentic digital worlds - built and governed the way the community wishes and limited only by the creativity of those who inhabit them,” Ogilvy said.
Every season an independent metaverse will be integrated into the Digital Village mainland based on its popularity and performance measured through community voting. The selected metaverse will have the opportunity to grow further and have a more significant impact in the multiverse.
“Creating as a community, playing as a community, and growing as a community will provide us all with an unmistakable perspective on the worlds we shape for ourselves and those who will look on us as we do our ancestors,” Game Director at Digital Village Dustin Rode said.
