“Make Aliens Great Again” - Solana meme coin surges 350% on Trump UFO hype

A cryptocurrency meme coin named MAGA (Make Aliens Great Again) has surged over 300% in the last 24 hours, and over 1718% since it entered the market on April 18th.

The name is a play on Donald Trump's “Make America Great Again” slogan, popularized during his presidential election campaigns and originally coined by Ronald Reagan in 1980.

Following President Trump’s February order for US agencies to release decades-old confidential UFO files, the extraterrestrial question has been picking up a lot of traction at large, if not being gamified at times.

The MAGA coin trades on the Solana blockchain, a shared digital interface where users commonly create meme tokens that run on hype, unlike Bitcoin's institutional adoption.

Because meme coins such as this one have no tangible value, which is akin to hot air, the price can take wild swings for the better or worse.

As Cybernews investigated the coin's rapid ascent, at first glance, it had risen 266.8% in the last 24 hours.

A quick refresh a few minutes later, and it had hit over 315%, before retreating back to sub 300%, and then over 400%. This demonstrates the amplified fluctuations on the table.

Interstellar speculation

Glancing over the official X account of MAGA, it becomes clear that anticipation is sky-high as the creators boldly assert that “disclosure is coming.”

One crypto enthusiast captured the zeitgeist sentiment by stating, “Most people overcomplicate meme coins. MAGA does not need overthinking. The narrative hits instantly.”

As well as the political momentum around the Pentagon UFO files, the forthcoming Steven Spielberg movie Disclosure Day, which will be released in June, has brought the topic into the public eye even more.

However, it shouldn’t come without severe warnings. This kind of inflated exposure is typical of what the crypto community calls a “pump and dump scheme," whereby prices become upended with excitement over a number of hours and days.

The price can subsequently crash in the blink of an eye, as was the case with one viral token in 2024, though this happens week in, week out with a myriad of coin creations.

Nobody knows how many meme coins are out there, but, as with aliens themselves, the truth about the MAGA meme coin will soon be uncovered.
