Twitter debate inspires musical that social media users are calling genius

“Slam Frank,” the 2025 off-Broadway show, has received considerable attention from social media users and the press for its obvious mockery of woke culture and the extreme left.
“Did Anne Frank ever acknowledge her white privilege?” was the subject of a Twitter (now X) debate trending in 2022.
Users, seemingly left-wing, were arguing as to whether Anne Frank, a Jewish child famous for documenting her experience during the holocaust, had “white privilege.”
Tweets, found by The Jerusalem Post, showed that many users believed that Anne Frank had white privilege, and that white people could still be persecuted.
While some users said, straight-up, that Anne Frank was persecuted because she was supposedly not white.

The Twitter beef eventually died down and was forgotten about for years, until it was reignited and transformed into the off-Broadway musical “Slam Frank.”
Slam Frank is the product of a “progressive community theatre company” and its decision to “transform Anne Frank’s true story into an intersectional, multiethnic, genderqueer, decolonized, empowering Afro-Latin hip-hop musical.”
This description alone turned my stomach, until I was reminded that this is satire and that’s exactly what the creators intended.
This fictional theatre troupe has created something truly horrific, so much so that horror has turned into genius, with many social media users praising the absurdity of Slam Frank.
“It’s called Slam Frank, and it’s actually a gem,” said one X user.

One X user said that we’ve reached the point where “satire and reality merge” and seemingly become indistinguishable.
This whole Slam Frank the Musical thing is like a Parks and Rec skit and I’m so here for it. The Spanish subtitles make it even funnier. We have reached a point where satire and reality have merged. pic.twitter.com/VuJPvkos1J
