Creators of the satirical adult cartoon South Park have announced that the show will undergo a name change, inspired by President Donald Trump, Apple, and Google.
South Park recently won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program for its episode Sermon on the Mount, which features a scene depicting President Donald Trump in bed with Satan.
On the heels of its Emmy win, South Park revealed it would undergo a major change inspired by the “bravery and patriotism” shown by US big tech companies Google and Apple.
“We are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced via the cartoon’s X account.
This comes after President Trump signed an executive order to rename Lake Ontario “Lake America” following trade tensions between the US and Canada.
Following the executive order, Google Maps was the first to officially change the lake’s name, prompting users to uninstall the app. Apple Maps was next to rename Lake Ontario.
MapQuest, the “OG navigation app,” received an unexpected boost in popularity after announcing it would not rename the lake.
The app began steadily gaining users until it reached number 1 overall on the US App Store.
Parker and Stone continued their satirical tirade by thanking its parent company, “Paramount – a Skydance Capitulation.”
This is in reference to the merger between Paramount and Skydance, which created the show’s parent company, Paramount Skydance.
