Lego has officially released an almost 1,500-piece X-Files edition of the popular 90s sci-fi show, recreating central character Fox Mulder's office, and a forest UFO encounter in the process.
Built as a part of the continuous Lego Ideas program, in which fans can submit their design concept, should a design get more than 10,000 votes, Lego’s official review board considers it for commercial production.
Australian fan designer Brent Waller won Lego's 90s Nostalgia Challenge, which led to the completion of the X-Files edition.
Waller commented, “I was obsessed with The X-Files from the moment I first saw it in the '90s,” adding, ”I originally built Mulder's office back in 2014 while rewatching the series."
He explained that he wanted "to combine nostalgia, detail, and storytelling to capture the atmosphere of the show."
The set will retail at $200, with early birds able to purchase it on August 1st. A wider launch is set for August 4th. If bought during the initial launch windows, a lucky few will receive a “Scully’s Lab” bonus build.
Actress Gillian Anderson, who played the lead character Dana Scully in the show, said:
