Apple plans to release a more secure AirTag next year.
While the market offers many other tracking devices, Apple’s AirTag is known for its long battery life and seamless integration with Find My network.
Reports are now circulating that Apple has begun testing the new AirTag 2.
While the new device should be similar to the current one, Bloomberg reports that its internal changes will include improved privacy and better range.
You may have heard about the multiple cases where AirTags were used to stalk people. Considering this, one of the main changes that may be implemented in the future AirTag is making it more difficult to remove its speaker.
Eliminating the speaker from the AirTag makes it harder for a person to notice when the device is hidden in their personal belongings or a vehicle.
The AirTag 2 should also come equipped with a new chip that expands the device's tracking range. This should help find lost items more easily.
The original AirTag was first released in 2021. Its updated version should be launched 4 years later, sometime in the middle of 2025.
