Survey reveals what Android and Apple users really think of each other

The story of Apple's messaging app and how it has strained relationships between Android and iPhone users.

Jokes and teasing between Apple and Android users who can’t agree on which OS is better have been ongoing for years. This is especially true when it comes to features like text messaging, with non-iPhone users not able to send or receive iMessages.

Since every joke has a grain of truth, how severe are these issues?

All About Cookies, an informational website, conducted a survey to determine the real situation between iPhone and Android users.

The All About Cookies team questioned 1000 people who were either iPhone or Android users.

The survey confirmed that more than half of questioned Android users were mocked for their smartphone choice by iPhone users, with 24% of Android users even being left out of a group chat because they owned an Android.

Thirty-eight percent of non-iPhone users experienced communication issues when texting due to the incompatibility of the Android and iPhone operating systems, meaning that they misunderstood or didn't receive some of the messages.

Despite the severity of combined issues, a third of questioned Android users considered switching to an iPhone because of the "sheer pressure and mockery."

When asked if they think less of someone when seeing a green bubble pop up in a text conversation, 22% of iPhone users agreed. Similar results were drawn when participants were asked whether it "would be a dealbreaker for some of you who were interested in using a non-Apple phone."

Twenty-three percent of participants admitted they would not continue the conversation.

Despite the fact that the division between Apple and Android users is real, the survey also showed that 42% of participants were willing to choose a third-party messaging app, such as Whatsapp, to be able to communicate with non-iPhone users.
