What a time to have an AppleCare plan.
Apple’s latest software, iOS18, has been released and is already being tried out by iPhone users. The update has also reached some iPad users. However, not all were able to test the new features.
Apple had to stop access to the iOS18 update for iPad Pro M4 models after a number of iPad users started complaining about issues while downloading the update.
They turned to Reddit, where they shared situations when their device wouldn’t turn on after a software update. Some users then reported the problem to Apple.
“I just took it to the Apple Store, who confirmed it’s completely bricked, but they said they had to send it out to their engineers before they can give me a replacement even though I have Apple care,” wrote one Redditor, later providing others with an update.
The user stated: “Apple has officially pulled the iOS 18 update for M4 iPads. Thank you all for confirming that we were experiencing a widespread issue!!!”
The discussion online also revealed that not all were affected by the situation. One Reddit user even went on to explain why the problem might have appeared in the first place, saying that the update could’ve been affected by a defective unit, an unplugged device, and even "cosmic rays."
Another reason that could’ve caused the failing software update is related to the software’s 17.7 version. Once the company is able to remove the existing problem, it will resume the availability to download iOS18.
This spring, Apple announced its latest iPads, including the iPad Pro M4 with an OLED screen. The latest iPad version is known to be the thinnest device the company has made so far.
