After Apple teased users with the release of PowerBeats Pro 2, the earbuds are already available online.
As anticipated, Apple released its latest earbuds on February 11th. The new earbuds will include a built-in heart rate monitor, showing real-time data through LED optical sensors.
PowerBeats Pro 2 includes the same H2 chip used in its AirPods.
The earbuds have a 10-hour battery life, and the case supports 45 hours. The PowerBeats Pro 2 also comes with Spatial Audio with head tracking – the same noise-canceling feature found in AirPods Pro 2 – and Adaptive EQ technology that adjusts audio to the user’s ear.
The $250 earbuds are already available online and will appear in stores on February 13th.
Some athletes have already been seen wearing the earbuds in public as part of a “teasing” campaign. The heart-rate monitoring feature allows users to track their health without wearing an Apple Watch. However, users will have to use their iPhones to see the data.
The PowerBeats Pro 2 won’t be the company’s first earbuds to be equipped with health-related monitoring features. Last year, Apple released the AirPods Pro 2 with hearing health additions.
The released features included hearing protection, hearing tests, and a hearing aid.
However, it was soon discovered that some hearing protection features would only be available in the US and Canada.
Because the earbuds would work as a medical device that must be authorized locally, Apple can’t yet allow the same features to work in every country.
