Priced at $619, a refurbished iPhone 16 is $80 cheaper than a new one, and $180 below its launch price.
Apple has begun selling certified refurbished iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max in the US and several other markets. The lineup was originally launched in September 2024.
According to Apple, all refurbished iPhones come with a new battery, a new outer shell, and a one-year limited warranty.
The company also offers free delivery and returns, as well as a full functional testing and a thorough cleaning of the device if needed. All the accessories and cables are repackaged in a new box.
The refurbished models cost about 12% less than the same models that are new, and about 22% less than the launch price.
For example, a refurbished iPhone 16 is sold on Apple’s website for $619, while a new iPhone 16 costs $699. The model’s original pricing at launch was $799.
Same goes for other models in the lineup: users can buy a refurbished iPhone 16 Plus for $699 as opposed to $799 for a new model and a launch price of $899.
The oldest refurbished models officially sold on Apple’s official website reach back to iPhone 14, which was launched in September 2022.
The refurbished iPhone 16 lineup is also available on Apple’s online store in Canada, France, Germany, the UK, and some other countries.
Google is also selling refurbished Pixel phones on its online store, as companies seek to tap into a booming second-hand market and reduce e-waste.
