Apple software update won’t include AI model after Apple Intelligence delay

The first iPhone 16 models might not be so intelligent after all.

Apple Intelligence will come out later than expected, after the release of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

The company plans to release Apple Intelligence in October, as a part of its software update. The extra time will be used to work on bug fixes before release.

Nevertheless, it’s reported that software developers should start testing Apple Intelligence via iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 betas this week, as first shared by Bloomberg. Such testing is especially important to make sure that no bugs or other feature-related problems affect the public release.

Official news about Apple Intelligence was first shared during Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2024. At the time, the company revealed that its AI model would be launched together with the new software update iOS 18 and iPad 18.

As Apple’s latest iPhone models come with a new software update, iOS18 was tested in stages, with the first beta test for developers released on June 10th.

The iOS 18 public beta test was released on July 15th, with the last public beta testing scheduled for the end of August. However, the news about Apple Intelligence being released at a later date could mean that the first iPhone 16 models may reach users without the AI feature, which would be added later via software updates.
