Flipper Zero maker launches Busy Bar, a $249 gadget that helps you stay in the zone

Flipper Devices, the company behind the multi-device tool Flipper Zero, is launching Busy Bar, a new open-source, fully customizable productivity gadget.

Busy Bar has only one main goal – to minimize distractions from users' devices and desktops while maintaining focus and staying productive.

The device features an LED pixel display and a Pomodoro timer. It allows users to work on the Pomodoro technique, which divides work into 25-minute sessions followed by five-minute breaks.

Busy Bar integrates with desktop software and automatically activates when a user is on a call, live on stream, recording audio, or when a certain program is active.

The LED display then shows a corresponding message, such as “Busy” or “On Call.”

It connects with Android and iOS via an app and can be integrated with third-party apps, calendars, calls, and smart home devices. The app and a few physical buttons allow users to control the device, which can be mounted on a wall, placed on a table, or propped up on a screen.

For developers, an Open API allows devices to be connected to the smart home ecosystem, display custom messages and images using JavaScript, GO, or Python, and connect to USB, LAN, or the Cloud.

Flipper Devices is planning to sell the device for $249. According to The Verge, the makers will launch the device via a Kickstarter campaign.

Busy Bar is the second gadget launched by Flipper Devices. Flipper Zero, unveiled in 2020, allows users to hack and pentest various wireless systems and embedded interfaces and is popular among security researchers and hackers.
