Foldable iPhone may dictate what the features of iOS 27 are going to be

Apple developers may be looking for a synthesis between hardware and software.
While most speculation about the development of Apple’s first foldable iPhone is related to its manufacturing and hardware, it’s been reported that it will also come with a new software upgrade, iOS 27.
The future operating system should include a new user interface (UI), considering that it will be used on a different type of device.
Apple is taking its time developing its first foldable because it wants to tackle some of the common issues that current foldable models include.
That means that the company wants to release a smartphone with fewer visible creases as well as an improved hinge mechanism, states Bloomberg.
Nevertheless, the hardware is only half of the product, with another important aspect being its software. Cult of Mac has reported that the current operating system may not work on a foldable smartphone.
Thus, the company is focusing on iOS 27 development, prioritizing the specific features needed for a foldable. However, not much is yet known about what these upgraded features would include.
While the popularity of foldables is still up for debate, it’s been reported that they’re gaining traction in China, especially the book-style models rather than the classic flip-phone designs.
So far, it’s been shared that Apple’s foldable iPhone has already entered the development stage.
Speculation about the future iPhone also includes the possible release date, which is expected to be launched in the last quarter of 2026. The new device is also likely to be rather pricey, costing at least $2000.
