Garmin watch user points out useful feature that apparently not everyone knows about

A user on Facebook’s “Garmin Forum” group has shared a useful yet possibly undiscovered feature.

One of the main conveniences of a smartwatch is notifications. Whether it’s a phone call, text message, or email, getting updates right onto your wrist allows you to be aware of what’s going on and find the right time to respond to them.

While smartwatch notifications aren’t entirely new, the things people can get notified about are expanding.

A Garmin user on Facebook recently shared that until they got their new Instinct 3 model, they didn’t know that it was possible to receive certain notifications. For example, when someone sends you a picture you can see it on your watch, or, in case you have a ring doorbell camera, see who's at your front door.

Users online shared that other Garmin models, including the Phoenix 8, Forerunner 265, and 965, provide the same type of notifications.

The discussion also revealed that this function is only available for Android, with some Garmin users stating that it is “the very reason my current iPhone is my last iPhone.”

The Garmin support page includes detailed information on how iOS and Android users can enable certain notifications. However, it doesn’t specify whether Garmin owners who paired their watches with their iPhones can receive notifications that include pictures and videos.

Many users are finding it useful to check on their homes through their watches. However, a discussion from three months ago revealed that some users noticed that the notifications “stopped coming through.”

The company has shared that “there has been a fix for this released for Android [...]. If you are experiencing this issue, be sure to install the latest Connect app version.” The message also suggests that the ring doorbell camera notifications aren’t supported on iOS.
