The future software update may include a re-designed camera app.
While it may seem like Apple has only just dropped iOS18, which brought an array of new features, a YouTube channel called FrontPageTech already has some clues about what the next software update, iOS19, might bring to users.
It seems that for the next big software update, the company plans to bring users a re-designed camera control.
The YouTube video, which now has almost 280,000 views, revealed that the camera should include a translucent background.
Once the camera is open, it shows two options: either take a photo or video. Upon selection, more features, such as depth, spatial, pano, and style, are available. For video taking, the camera also includes slo-mo, timelapse, and action features.
In the video, Jon Prosser, the channel's host, explained that these features aren’t entirely new since they can already be found in Apple Vision Pro headset’s software, visionOS.
It was also speculated that the whole iOS19 user interface could look similar to visionOS.
iOS has remained relatively unchanged over the years. Only recently have users been given more freedom to customize their devices' interfaces.
Last year, with iOS18, Apple users received features that included customizable apps and a control center, expanded messaging options, Apple Intelligence features, and changes to the Photos app.
The software update also includes a few safety-related features such as a new Password app, and the ability to lock and hide apps and share only specific contacts with an app.
It’s not yet clear if the changes discussed in the video will be implemented with iOS19, which should be released around the launch of iPhone 17.
