The camera control button could be messing things up for some iPhone 16 Pro users.
With the latest Apple smartphones hitting the shelves just last week, iPhone 16 Pro users are already complaining about issues related to the smartphone’s touchscreen.
Some users have shared a problem with the touchscreen that becomes unresponsive when they try to scroll or tap the device.
The issue was discussed on Reddit, and it was revealed that it could be related to one of the phone’s latest features: the camera control button.
The camera control button, located on the phone’s right side bottom, was added to make it easier for users to adjust their camera settings.
However, as noted by one Reddit user, “If one’s skin accidentally touches the area next to the new camera control button first, the whole screen becomes unresponsive until released, except for the home bar. This is the only area that causes the issue.”
For this reason, once a user’s finger is near the button, it causes any touches or taps on the screen to be ignored for some time. It was also noted that not all users are affected by this.
This problem with the iPhone 16 Pro running on iOS18 and iOS18.1 beta could also be caused by the new device's thinner borders, which make it easier for a user to activate touch rejection when they simply take the phone into their hands.
Many users were convinced that it’s a software bug and it could be solved with an update.
“I’m not too worried about these touch-related issues as it’s clearly all software. Apple will address this soon,” shared one of the Redditors.
“Just got off a call with Apple Support and can confirm it's probably not a hardware issue, most likely a software issue. Support advised to do a full reset but most probably gotta wait for a software update fix,” noted another user, who also provided a possible fix to the issue.
