A privacy-focused tablet has hit our screens, and one self-proclaimed “ethical tech provider” is the first to debut it due to “significant demand” from customers.
There’s an entire subreddit dedicated to the concept of “deGoogling.” This means hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of people, are so concerned with their data privacy that they are willing to sacrifice the convenience of the Google ecosystem.

But, one self-proclaimed “ethical tech provider” claims to be changing this with its privacy-first devices that “don’t share any of your personal and professional data to Google, Apple, or third parties,” said Gael Duval, founder of Murena.
Murena typically sells smartphones and cloud software. But now, it’s moving into the tablet market with its Pixel Tablet.
The company boasts its first “deGoogled” Pixel Tablet that runs on its own “privacy-focused operating system” (/e/OS) instead of Google’s Android.
This operating systems allows insight into what data is being used on the device, and which apps are requesting data and permissions, so they can manage it accordingly.
The “Wall of Shame” feature even allows you to see the most data-hungry apps in the past day or over a month.
Supposedly, the device doesn’t collect user data, “including at the operating system level,” Murena said. The Pixel Tablet is also open-source, supposedly making it customizable and giving users “back control of their data when using apps, browsing, and the web.”
Murena’s Pixel Tablet comes with a 10.95-inch LCD display, a 2560 x 16000 resolution, and a Tensor G2 chipset.
It also has front and rear cameras, 128GB internal storage, 8GB RAM, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB-C port for connecting other devices like keyboards and gaming controllers.
This tablet has been released due to “significant demand” from its “dedicated customers and community, the company said.
The tablet also comes with Murena Workspace, which is the company’s answer to Office 365 or Google Drive.
The Murena Pixel Tablet will set you back around $549 plus shipping.
