Users dream about this new Garmin feature: would you pay more for it?

Over time, smartwatches have evolved into mini-smartphones. However, users seem to miss the days when wearables were a bit simpler.

A Reddit user decided to share an open letter dedicated to Garmin. The user expressed their joy with the company’s products and the app despite some flaws, such as the interface, which “isn’t the cleanest.”

The user also shared how glad they are to be able to track their motorcycle rides and other “weird sports.”

However, the Reddit user had one request: They would love for Garmin to release a screen-less band.

“[...] I’d love you more if I had a simple band so I can wear my mechanical watches as well, track my sleep with a tad more comfort and so I don’t give myself away as a wannabe athlete everywhere I go,” shared the user online.

Their request started an online discussion, with more users sharing how they would love to get a tracker without a display.

“I’ll even overpay for something like this. I miss wearing nice watches, but my fenix data addiction is too much,” wrote one user online.

“Yes, discreet screen-less. Listen to this human Garmin. Actually, tell us if this is on your roadmap?” chimed in another Redditor.

Some users shared that they found a solution to the problem of not being able to wear regular watches by simply wearing both of them. “Join the two-watch gang! Or order a longer strap so you can have your Garmin on your ankle,” shared one Redditor.

“Someone recommended a fabric strap with Velcro to hold the watch in. I bought one and strapped it to my upper arm. Now I can wear mechanical watches. Not sure how this will work in summer with t-shirts though,” another user said.

What users have been asking isn’t something that doesn’t exist in the tech wearable market. Such bands are still sold by companies such as Fitbit and Whoop. Nevertheless, some users are loyal to their favorite brands, also naming a smart ring as an alternative for screen-less tracking.

“I would buy back into the Garmin ecosystem if they provided a ring or whoop alternative,” wrote one user.

Another reason users want Garmin to release its own variant of a band without display is its subscription policy.

“This is THE reason why I love Garmin, that they don't put features behind a subscription wall like everyone else does these days,” noticed a Redditor.

An interesting take on why the company wouldn’t want to pursue a screen-less device was shared by another user: “Yeah, I want something hidden. But also, it sucks for marketing. Nobody sees it, so nobody will talk about the thing you wear.”

When it comes to the release of a smart ring, Garmin has already shared its take on the matter, stating that the company wants to continue improving what it has created instead of hopping on the smart ring trend.
