Nintendo will reportedly release its Switch 2 console this week


Leaks about the upcoming Nintendo console are ramping up, which means that the console is about to be unveiled.

Nearly eight years after announcing the original Switch console, Nintendo may reveal its next iteration, the Switch 2, as soon as this Thursday.

According to a podcast that has a successful track record, the major announcement is expected to focus exclusively on hardware, while details about software may be revealed in a few months.

Based on previously leaked renders, the new console is supposed to have an 8-inch OLED screen, one inch bigger than the previous version, two USB-C ports instead of one, and be powered by Nvidia hardware.

As confirmed by Nintendo representatives earlier, the new console will be backward compatible with Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Online games.

It’s estimated that the new console may cost around $400 or slightly more.

According to the podcast Nate the Hate, the Switch 2 could launch this May or June, which also matches information from sources on the VGC website.

The original Nintendo Switch was announced in 2016 and released in March 2017.
