Oppo’s Find X8 smartphones have powerful cameras, a decent battery life, and lots of AI features.
After Apple launched its iPhone 16 smartphones this September, it was reasonable to expect that Android-based phones would soon follow suit and add their own dedicated camera button.
And so it has come to pass. Just two months after Apple’s release, we already have an Android smartphone line with a clickable camera button and solid specs.
On Thursday, Chinese Vendor Oppo launched two of its flagships, Find X8 and Find X8 Pro, worldwide.
Both have what the company calls a Quick Button, a touch-sensitive strip on the right side that can quickly launch the camera and control zoom. In comparison, Apple’s Camera Control Button can also access some camera functions and support visual intelligence.
Oppo smartphones, powered by MediaTek’s Dymenisty chip and running on modified Android 15 ColorOS, feature three 50MP cameras.
Find X8 includes a 15mm (0.6x), 24mm (1x), and 73mm (3x) periscope camera mix. Meanwhile, Find X8 Pro has a quad-camera, adding a 135mm (6x) periscope, which makes it the first globally available smartphone to feature two periscope cameras.
The phones come with AI-enhancing and editing tools, such as 60X digital zoom with AI Telescope Zoom, improved AI Eraser, AI Clarity Enhance, and others.
They also support other AI features found on the latest Google, Samsung, and Apple flagships, such as writing tools, meeting transcriptions, and text summaries.
For better connectivity, there is AI LinkBoost, which the company claims will result in 50% better uplink and downlink throughput in elevators.
In addition, Oppo Find X8 smartphones are equipped with solid batteries over 5500 mAh and come with 50W (Find X8) and 80W (Find X8 Pro) charging.
The devices support up to 120 Hz refresh rate, while the display can reach up to 1600 nits brightness. When watching supported HDR content, the devices can reach up to 4500 nits.
Oppo doesn’t disclose its smartphone prices on its website or press release. In some shops, the Find X8 base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage starts at $880, though prices may increase depending on region.
