The future smartphone is half as thick as an iPhone 16 Pro Max and could be taken for a swim.
Oppo, a China-based company, is soon releasing its latest foldable smartphone. It will be known as the Find N5 in China and the OnePlus Open2 in other markets.
The company’s product manager, Zhou Yibao, shared images on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, revealing the foldable's impressive thinness.
The pictures compare the smartphone with the iPhone 16 Pro Max, some Chinese coins, and a stack of four plastic cards to emphasize how slim the new device is.
Oppo stated that its future smartphone is on its way to becoming the thinnest foldable smartphone, which is the title that the Honor Magic V3 smartphone currently holds.
The company didn’t reveal the new smartphone's actual thickness, encouraging users to guess it. Considering the Honor Magic V3 is 4.35 mm thick, the Find N5 is expected to be around 4mm.
In the provided pictures, the device looks just a tad thicker than its USB-C charging port, which is around 2.6 mm thick.
The company shared one more detail about the upcoming smartphone. Oppo’s product manager uploaded a video of the Find N5 being immersed deep into the water, showing that the phone can resist high and low temperatures in the water, as well as high pressure and deep submersion.
The company’s future trifold smartphone should launch next month in China. Users in the US should expect this model to be called the OnePlus Open 2.
