Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Ultra under scrutiny by users for defective finishing

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra users didn’t let this one detail go unnoticed.

A few months ago, Samsung launched its latest Galaxy smartwatches, adding the 7 and Ultra to its wearables list. Now that more time passed, and more people are able to use and test the watches, more discoveries have been made.

Some users online who have the Galaxy Watch Ultra have noticed holes on the side of the watch, in the area where its speakers are supposed to be.

After detecting this, one Reddit user wrote to a r/GalaxyWatch subreddit, asking: “I wonder why the speaker grill isn't cut out all the way? What's this little hole for on the Ultra?”

Other users online soon started a discussion with answers on what this could be. Guesses varied from it a “built-in breathalyzer” to a battery vent to being a speaker, with some stating that it isn’t something to be worried about.

The conversation on the same topic has also occurred on X (formerly Twitter), where user @durredan01, a software engineer and tech content creator, shared his thoughts on the same matter.

“This is the $650 Galaxy Watch Ultra. It’s the kind of finishing you get on $10 Apple Watch clones from Temu,” wrote the user.

Others also critiqued Samsung’s quality control, stating that “this year has been the worst in terms of QC issues with Samsung.”

The latest Samsung smartwatch has already received backlash after being seen as too similar to Apple's smartwatch. At the time, even the company’s executive chairman, Lee Jae-Yong, was unhappy with the noticeable similarities.

Cybernews has reached out to the company for comment and will update with a response.
