The company might be developing technology that would allow you to look at your phone screen without having to have it near you.
Samsung is known for offering users a variety of devices, with its Galaxy Smart Ring the latest addition to its line of wearables. And with a recently issued patent, the company might be adding another device to its selection.
By releasing the document, the company hinted at a wearable projector, or “beam image output” technology.
The patent drawings show that the gadget would project images from a smartphone or other device, improving its display as it casts the image on other surfaces, such as a user’s hand.
This new technology may differ from a regular projector as it could modulate the beam more accurately and provide a high-quality image.
The patent's drawings reveal how it would work. For example, if a user puts their hand on the table, the device would project a keyboard. Or, if a user touches their face with their hand, it would display a phone, 91mobiles reports after reviewing the patent.
While the idea seems quite new, Samsung has already released a device with a similar function. In 2012, the company launched the Samsung Galaxy Beam, a smartphone equipped with a projector that displays content from the phone onto other surfaces.
However, the smartphone didn’t receive much attention despite its novelty feature and was discontinued.
While the feature could show more potential in recent times, the release of the patent doesn't guarantee that the company will move forward with the project.
