With the Sonos S2 app not returning, the company is back to square one.
Audio equipment company Sonos is still looking for ways to fix its app. Its most recent solution was to bring the old app back – however, it seems that it’s not that easy.
The company’s CEO, Patrick Spense, shared an update on the app on Reddit, allowing users to ask him questions on the matter.
Sonos, which launched its latest device – Sonos Ace headphones – is now at a standstill due to a faulty app upgrade. The update has caused the company a number of angry customers and delayed the launch of two new products.
Sonos’s latest app was released at the beginning of May and has received quite a backlash due to its lagging and crashing.
It’s been a couple of months since the company first faced this issue, and now it hopes to just bring the old app (S2) back. However, the company’s CEO has now confirmed that it’s not possible.
Spense explained that this is because Sonos is not only an app but also “software that runs on your speakers and in the cloud.”
“In the months since the new mobile app launched, we’ve been updating the software that runs on our speakers and in the cloud to the point where today S2 is less reliable & less stable than what you remember. After doing extensive testing we’ve reluctantly concluded that re-releasing S2 would make the problems worse, not better,” shared Spense via Reddit.
While the company seems to try to communicate openly with its users about problems that occur, some people took the opportunity to share their experiences and thoughts on the whole situation. Many complained how the app or software didn’t work for them and found it “really hard to believe” that the company couldn’t roll back the update.
