SwitchBot calls its K20 Plus Pro the world’s first multi-tasking robot.
Every year, companies announce robot vacuums designed to eliminate more tasks from our daily routines. At this year’s Consumer Tech Show, held from January 7th to 10th in Las Vegas, there are quite a few noteworthy models.
Roborock unveiled the Saros Z70, which can remove socks, tissues, and other obstacles under 300g (10.6 ounces) from your path, while Dreame showcased the X50 Ultra, which can climb small platforms.
At the show, I came across another unique model: the modular robot vacuum cleaner K20 Plus Pro, developed by the Chinese company SwitchBot.
The robot vacuum can function as an air purifier, a fan, and a moving home security camera that monitors your home.
In addition, it can also serve as a mini table, a pet-watching camera, and a tablet holder. According to the company’s representative, the latter option may come in handy if you are taking a bath and want to see a movie.
All of these modular parts are mounted on a chargeable base while the vacuum can be controlled via SwitchBot’s app on your smartphone.
SwtichBot says that users can also add 3D-printed components, third-party devices with multiple power ports for speakers, car fridges, or UV sterilization lamps via USB port.
The company plans to release additional its own modular options, including a robotic arm.
SwitchBot plans to retail the vacuum this June. There is currently no word on pricing.
