Semrush One review: a closer look at its SEO and AI capabilities

The world of SEO is advancing rapidly, and that calls for some change in the way website optimization is done. As a perfect blend of traditional SEO and advanced AI trends, Semrush One has emerged as the number one option.

Unlike the original Semrush, this platform focuses on AI visibility tracking, analysis of AI-related brand mentions, and other AI insights.

It promises a lot, but there’s little information about the estimated success rate and performance. That’s why I’ve decided to do the hard work for you. Together with my team of Cybernews experts, I’ve put all the functions and features of Semrush One to the test.

Quick overview of Semrush One

Before I get into the nitty-gritty of Semrush One, let’s reflect on its key specs. These are some of the details you should be familiar with before using the tool:

Our methodology

While testing Semrush One, our team of experts didn’t focus on hands-on experience. Instead, we created a specific ranking system, and here’s what it consists of:

  • SEO & marketing capabilities (30%). First, we assessed the availability of SEO tools with a focus on competitive research and marketing functions.
  • AI & innovation (25%). We also tested Semrush One's AI-driven insights, prompt research options, and other new features, like LLM visibility tracking.
  • Usability & interface (15%). From the moment I heard about the tool, I wanted to see whether it’s too different from the original version in terms of navigation. I evaluated the ease of navigation by examining dashboard complexity and positioning.
  • Pricing & value (15%). Considering that it doesn’t exactly come with a low price tag, I wanted to put Semrush One's features to the test and see if they truly bring proper bang for your buck.
  • User feedback & reputation (15%). After going through all the previous criteria, I explored real-world feedback from existing Semrush One users to pinpoint common praises and complaints and see if the brand delivers on its promises.

What is Semrush One, and who is it for?

Semrush One is a platform that brings more than just basic SEO to the table. It’s a perfect option for SEO professionals, content teams, and marketing agencies who want to stay aligned with the latest AI optimization and visibility features.

It deals with AI brand visibility, advanced competitive intelligence, and AI-generated search results, so it makes it easier to position websites and content in a way that’s accessible to those who use AI insights and tools when browsing.

Plus, unlike regular Semrush or other SEO tools, it’s not solely focused on link building and keyword research. Instead, it's a platform SEO experts can rely on in terms of comprehensive data for AI analytics.

Marketing agencies can also use it for advanced, AI-related research and comprehensive reporting. It can also be a handy tool for crafting data-driven strategies for businesses focused on organic growth and brand visibility.

Lastly, content teams can use advanced prompt research and AI insights to fine-tune content in response to the latest search engine updates.

Benefits of using Semrush One

While reviewing the platform, I noticed quite a few advantages that Semrush One comes with when compared to other SEO tools. Here’s an overview of each:

  • Centralized SEO and AI insights. With Semrush One, you’ll never need another tool for SEO and AI insights, as it keeps both in check.
  • Time saving. Semrush One deals with research, analysis, and reporting all at once, saving you valuable time during the complex SEO optimization process.
  • Data-driven decision-making. With new features such as advanced competitive intelligence and AI analytics, you can make strategic decisions backed by data.
  • Competitive visibility. The whole point of the tool’s competitive intelligence isn’t simply to see how competitors appear in AI searches and overviews, but also to grasp AI brand visibility overall. It helps content teams develop effective positioning strategies.

Semrush One SEO tools and features

I was impressed with all the added functions Semrush One has compared to the regular version, and these are the main features that caught my attention:

Keyword research and tracking

While not its primary function, Semrush One’s keyword research and tracking tool remains top-notch. The focus is still on finding high-value keyword ranking opportunities and analyzing keyword difficulty.

However, it does so across different engines, including AI-optimized ones. Based on that, as well as a few additional options such as search intent analysis, content teams can create highly visible content.

Competitive analysis

The entire competitive analysis suite of Semrush One helps you identify competitor strategies and approaches to keyword research, traffic optimization, and other areas. I also liked the gap analysis feature, which finds keywords and pages that rank high on your competitors' websites. It helps you make a proper strategy for ranking for those keywords yourself.

The market positioning insights tool allows you to see where your website ranks in the competitive landscape, especially in terms of traffic, authority, and visibility in AI searches.

Backlink management features haven’t changed all that much compared to the original Semrush. This new version retains backlink audits and link-building tools that work based on competitor analysis in your niche. I also liked authority tracking, which should help point your link acquisition efforts in the right direction.

Site optimization

Semrush One is still an SEO tool at its core, as you can see from all the optimization features. You can rely on it for technical SEO analysis or use diagnostic tools to see where the site may lag behind in terms of optimization. Among other tools, you can use the performance monitoring page with an optimization timeline.

Content optimization

Semrush One keeps up with the latest content optimization and ranking practices, so its features, such as content scores, readability, and structure ratings, can help ensure your website ranks high in the ever-changing SEO landscape.

Plus, this tool focuses on search intent, which also reflects all the added AI features. Interestingly, many other SEO tools simply overlook this factor and focus just on the numbers.

Semrush One AI SEO tools and features

Now it’s time to see how all the AI features blend into the original Semrush layout. There’s a lot to unpack here, but I’d say that AI analytics and focus on LLM have made the biggest impact:

Visibility overview

The AI visibility tool tracks your brand’s presence in AI-generated results across multiple search engines. Because of this, you get to see an unconventional side of the visibility coin, with detailed data overviews in a single layout. You can even take a glimpse of how search visibility differs in various environments.

AI and LLM performance

In the era of AI search assistants, traditional SEO analytics and tools simply can’t see through the large language models and understand how they represent information from your site. Semrush One handles all that.

It focuses on AI responses, which are pretty similar to traditional snippets, and measures the share of your brand’s voice in them, helping you optimize on-site content.

Competitor research

Semrush One also has an AI-assisted competitor insights toolkit with a much higher research coverage when compared to standard SEO tools. With this, you can see how your competitors boost their AI visibility and authority in LLM responses.

Prompt research

Through the prompt research tool, Semrush One helps you pinpoint types of queries that lead to brand mentions in AI overviews. This is crucial for boosting your site’s visibility and engagement through increased appearance in AI search responses.

Perception

Perception tracking is a function that allows you to see if your brand is viewed with expertise and reliability in mind. It displays metrics and measurements that showcase the way in which AI assistants view your site when generating responses to user queries.

Narrative drivers

I also liked the narrative analysis tool, as it delivers themes and topics that shape your brand’s image. You can use it to identify positive narratives that support your brand’s reputation within AI visibility.

Questions

Lastly, Semrush One includes question-based insights to help you identify what people commonly ask about your brand. You also get to see how such questions are answered through AI responses, so you can use all that information to optimize content for AI response snippets and FAQ-type results.

Semrush One: user interface and ease of use

Though Semrush One's dashboard is similar to the original version, it does require an adjustment period. Thankfully, there are some video tutorials and onboarding materials you can read to get a sense of the tool’s complexity and the added AI-related features.

However, if you’ve used Semrush before, you’ll find the layout intuitive, with all the important metrics conveniently displayed through the dashboard. You can explore various features, including research, optimization, performance tracking, and AI analysis. Data is presented quite clearly, and I especially liked all the visual representations through data charts and tables.

Semrush One: customer support

As someone who has been familiar with Semrush for years, I knew exactly what to expect out of the updated platform’s support. It offers multi-channel support, and responses are usually pretty quick, often delivered within minutes.

Naturally, it all depends on the method used, and there are quite a few to choose from here. Semrush One mainly relies on its Contact Us page for queries, and you can visit it to reach out to the sales team, request a 1-on-1 session with a support agent, or browse the FAQ library.

Still, as a new user, you might want to check out the Knowledge Base, which is a library of the best practices and guides you could rely on.

Other support options include official Semrush blogs and webinars, along with those video tutorials I’ve already discussed. It’s worth mentioning that only those with an active subscription can use the Knowledge Base, read the blog, or visit the webinars.

Semrush One plans and pricing

With Semrush One, you get to choose from three different plans, and here are their key specs:

  1. Starter plan. Starts at $199/month and includes the basic AI visibility toolkit, monitoring for up to 5 websites, and up to 50 prompts and 500 keywords for daily tracking.
  2. Pro plus plan. Starts at $299/month and includes all Starter features plus historical SEO data, monitoring for up to 15 websites, and up to 100 prompts and 1500 keywords for daily tracking.
  3. Advanced plan. Starts at $549/month and offers all Pro Plus features along with API data integration, MCP access, migration from third-party tools, and monitoring for up to 40 websites, 5000 keywords, and 200 prompts.

As you can see, usage limits vary greatly depending on your plan, but I’d recommend the Starter option to newbies. It’s relatively easy to get used to, and you still have access to the basic SEO and AI tools.

Plans starting with the Pro Plus are more adequate for agencies and mid-sized companies. Still, I’d only recommend getting the Advanced plan on behalf of your enterprise or a large agency. Otherwise, you’d just be throwing money away with massive usage limits you can’t realistically meet.

Also, consider going for annual billing, as it offers up to 17% discount on all plans.

Semrush One: user reviews

Since I don't want to just give you my personal take on the platform, I’ve also explored user ratings across various forums and rating platforms.

In most cases, I've only found positive remarks praising the tool’s versatility for AI visibility and analysis. Users also point out the precision and accuracy of all the data displayed within the dashboard, and performance monitoring tools are said to be next-level.

On the flip side, some individual users state that the tool is too complex for basic SEO and AI work, and I agree with that.

It’s mainly beneficial for agencies looking for a comprehensive, all-in-one solution for all things SEO and AI-related. That’s why I’d advise you to take the common complaints about the pricing plans being too hefty with a grain of salt.

Semrush vs competitors

Before I leave you to it, I thought it would be a good idea to compare Semrush One with similar tools. Take a look to make sure you’re picking the right tool for your needs:

Platform Feature depth AI capabilities Pricing Ease of use
Semrush OneExtremely comprehensive AI toolkit with an SEO suite and visibility tracking Advanced LLM tracking, AI response analysis, prompt research, perception analysisPremium pricing (from $199/month to $549/month)High learning curve due to advanced features
AhrefsGreat backlink analysis and site auditing features, AI add-onsVery limited, only available through AI add-ons starting at $29/monthModerately demanding (from $129/month to $449/month)Very intuitive
Moz ProGreat keyword research and rank tracking toolsVery limited, augmented intelligence toolkit availableCompetitive (from $49/month to $299/month)Beginner-friendly

Final verdict: is Semrush One worth it?

Ultimately, Semrush One brings more than enough value for the right user. If you need a future-proof solution with a focus on AI visibility and search optimization, it’s your top choice. While other SEO tools are still picking up, Semrush One has already mastered the essence of AI search and brand visibility.

On the other hand, it is a bit pricey, and the learning curve is quite demanding. That’s why I’d mainly recommend it to established SEO experts, marketing teams, and businesses looking to generate leads by doubling down on their organic visibility.
