PS5 Linux hacker rage quits after “slop kiddies” report exploit to Sony

One well-known researcher is quitting the community after vibecoding “noobs” reported an exploit that would destroy his chances of completing his PS5 Linux release.
Andy Nguyen took to X to announce his departure from the “PS5 scene” and that he plans to scrap all of his upcoming PS5 Linux projects.
“After pouring my heart and months of my life into it, including plans to finish PS5 Pro support and release in 2027, it's all down the sink,” the hacker said.
Nguyen, who is known for developing the kernel exploit “h-encore” for the discontinued PS Vita handheld, claims that the community is now brimming with “a bunch of noobs using LLMs and writing hacks they don’t even understand.”
While the hacker claims he’s leaving the community that was once populated by “highly talented researchers” because the newest generation of bug hunters is ruining the scene by using AI, it seems that Nguyen is rage-quitting for a specific reason.
It turns out that these “slop kiddies” discovered an unreported hypervisor bug that Nguyen had found a while back. Slop kiddies are internet users heavily reliant on AI tools and content.
Nguyen purposefully never reported the exploit, as this last-standing hypervisor bug was integral to his PS5 Linux project.
If reported, Sony would then patch the exploit, making it impossible for Nguyen to jailbreak Sony’s PS5 to run Linux.
But the slop kiddies reported the last known hypervisor bug to Sony to claim the bounty.
“I asked them to at least wait for GTA 6 to come out so that people would have the opportunity to legally purchase the game and also enjoy Linux. They agreed to wait, but not a day passed, and they decided to waste it instead,” Nguyen said.
