Apple adds MacBook Neo and iPhone 17e to its list of devices that users can repair themselves

If you’re handy enough, you can now repair your Apple devices, including the latest iPhones and laptops, using original parts and professional tools.
Despite Apple products including a warranty and optional insurance such as Apple Care+, the company also allows users to repair their devices themselves.
For this reason, Apple updated its Self Service Repair Store by adding repair parts for its newer products.
Users can now find repair parts and tools for:
- iPhone 17e
- iPad Air (M4)
- MacBook Air (M5)
- MacBook Pro (M5 Pro and M5 Max)
- MacBook Neo
- Studio Display
- Studio Display XDR
According to the Apple Self Service Repair site, this service is intended for “individuals with the knowledge and experience to repair electronic devices.”
In this case, the company provides them with “access to genuine Apple parts, tools, and repair manuals to perform your own out-of-warranty repair.”
Users who decide to repair their device themselves are advised to read the device's repair manual first. This will help determine which parts and tools are needed.
Once users know exactly what they need for the repairs, they can buy original Apple parts and rent or buy tools from the Self Service Repair Store.
After receiving the parts, users should follow the repair manual to fix their iPhone, iPad, Mac laptop or desktop computer, Apple display, or Beats.
Users are also encouraged to return used or damaged parts replaced during the repair so the company can refurbish or recycle them.
The company’s Self-Service Repair Store was introduced in 2021 and went live in the US in April 2022.
At the end of 2022, the store was also introduced in Europe and is now available in more than 30 countries. The self repair service is also available in the UK and Canada.
The store first provided original parts, tools, and manuals for the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and third-generation iPhone SE, later adding parts for Mac and iPad models.
Among the newly added devices is also the latest Apple laptop, MacBook Neo.

The new device has already drawn attention for its repairability, as it uses screws to secure the battery and keyboard rather than glue, reports The Mac Observer.
This change now allows users to repair their laptop’s keyboard themselves for just $140, rather than replacing the entire aluminum case, which could cost around $600.
