Around 6800 buyers are finally getting their money back after buying uncertified N95 Zephyr masks.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is refunding more than 1 million dollars to people who bought Razer’s Zephyr N95 face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In October of 2021, Razer started selling its face masks or “wearable air purifiers,” charging $100 for a face mask and three sets of filters. Its Razer Zephyr Starter Pack, which included a mask and 33 sets of filters, was sold for $150.
The company got into trouble after it falsely advertised that its face mask was as reliable as the certified N95 mask. However, Razer’s product wasn’t tested or certified.
In 2024, the FTC took action against Razer, stating that “the company never even submitted the masks for testing to the FDA or the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and the masks were never certified as N95.”

Users who bought the face masks are now receiving checks or PayPal payments of around $150. The payment should be sent to almost 6800 people.
The commission shared that people who received the refund should cash the check within 90 days, or redeem the funds from PayPal in 30 days.
The advertised face masks can no longer be found in the company's webpage.
