Cybertrucks have gotten a bad rep in some circles. Now, people are even considering selling theirs due to the hate and negative attention they get on the road. Oh, and Elon Musk’s ramblings on X.
“I’m really tempted to sell (my Cybertruck) because of all the attention, criticism, assumptions, and even aggressive drivers targeting me on the highway,” one user said on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.
This owner is equally unhappy with Tesla’s CEO and his incoherent ramblings on social media.
“I also wish Elon wasn’t so vocal and polarizing – it’s not great for a CEO, and honestly, it’s embarrassing to own any Tesla right now, let alone the Cybertruck.”
The thread, which has since been locked due to violations of the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, specifically banning fighting and political conversation, gained some attention from die-hard Tesla fans.
While Cybertrucks have gotten a bad reputation as one of the most overhyped and underwhelming electric vehicles out there, some people still love Tesla.
Although the truck has been ripped apart by popular YouTubers like WhistlinDisel and social media influencers who have tested the model's durability, people still see the Cybertruck as innovative.
Netizens have also used vegetables and fingers to test the Cybertruck's safety.
However, with the upcoming presidential election and Elon Musk’s blind support for Donald Trump, people are questioning whether or not they should keep their Tesla vehicles.
One user responded to the post saying that they have gone from “fanboy to frenemy” when it comes to Musk. “He should really learn to shut the f**k up,” they said.
Other people believe that Musk is “antagonizing his core customers” and his opinions are “100% diminishing his brand.”
One user revealed that they’re a shareholder in Tesla and expressed that they’re “not interested in having to pay expensive lawyers for him to fight unnecessary battles because he feels the need to vent his spleen.”
But besides that, the comments seem overwhelmingly positive. Many say that Tesla makes the best cars, and one user says that buying a Cybertruck is potentially “the most patriotic thing you can do.”
One user said that if you’re not buying a Tesla and you’re buying another vehicle, then you’re essentially buying a horse and buggy. That’s how behind the times you are.
While the user who started the thread can’t seem to separate the creator from the product, many others think that Musk’s polarizing nature can be forgotten when it comes to the Cybertruck.
“Thank God I don’t choose which products to purchase based on what the CEO’s lifestyle or opinion is,” one person said.
Musk has become one of the most polarizing figures in recent times, with his largely inappropriate and unvetted social media posts flooding users' timelines.
Yet, it doesn’t seem to dampen Tesla stocks, with Tesla stocks recently rising by 6%, reversing previous losses.
Musk’s posts are also all in the name of “free speech,” which resonates with many Tesla customers.
One user said that they find it “revealing how many people seem to think being a CEO means you must remain agnostic on every public opinion as if their permission to speak freely is governed by some random person on the internet.”
However, others replied, with one user saying that when they’re told to hate someone, they listen.
Tesla, and particularly its Cybertruck, has gained a lot of negative media attention since its release, and this may be for good reason. We’ve witnessed various recalls of certain Tesla models, the destruction of the indestructible Cybertruck, and the truck not living up to its name.
The Cybertruck has managed to get stuck in lakes, crumple after impact, and get completely destroyed in the desert.
