While Spotify hasn’t yet wrapped this year by giving users insights into their music taste, YouTube is already providing users with annual recaps.
Spotify users know that one of the most anticipated features at the end of the year is Spotify Wrapped, which provides users with personalized statistics on what they have been listening to the most.
This year, YouTube, which offers Music Recap, also introduced an “Ask Music” feature that utilizes AI and users’ platform history to provide them with insights into their music choices and generate personalized recommendations.
Users can ask chatbot things like how their music taste has changed over the years, whether they tend to look for new music or listen to the same tracks. Users can also ask “trickier” questions, such as “What animal matches my music taste?” reports 9to5Google.
Those who want to check their YouTube Music Recap, if the platform hasn’t shown it to them itself, can find the feature by clicking on their profile picture and going to “Your Recap.”
The feature provides users with information, such as the amount of time they spend on the platform listening and their longest consecutive listening streak. It also shares the name of the most listened song and the top five songs, as well as their top artists, albums, podcasts, and more.
With more users showing interest in insights into what they’re listening to, Spotify has also stepped up its game by releasing a new feature ahead of its annual Wrapped release.
The new Spotify integration allows users to transfer their playlists from other streaming platforms through TuneMyMusic, a third-party service.
The streaming platform first introduced Spotify Wrapped ten years ago, as “Year in Music,” later changing its name to the one users know now. The feature quickly gained popularity, and Apple also released a similar feature, called “Apple Music Replay” in 2019.
Another platform that offers a similar element is YouTube, with its “Music Recap.” While a recap sounds like something to be released in December, marking the end of the year, YouTube is known to release its Music Recap at the end of November.
