The Total Adblock free subscription plan is quite limited since you can only use it for 7 days. However, Total Adblock premium is very budget-friendly, so investing in an advanced protection tool from adware won't hurt your wallet.
The premium Total Adblock cost is only $1.59/month and has a 14-day money-back guarantee. Alternatively, you can purchase a TotalAV antivirus suite for $49/year and get this ad blocker included. Then, you also get a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Additionally, the Total Adblock subscription prices renew automatically. To stop that, you’ll need to manually disable it in your account.
This also applies to the 7-day free trial. When you sign up for the free trial, you agree to Total Adblock charging you the regular fee once the trial is finished. If you don’t wish to keep using Total Adblock after the free trial period, make sure you cancel your subscription before the 7 days are over.
Is Total Adblock safe?
Yes, Total Adblock is a safe and legitimate ad blocker to use. The tool is offered by TotalAV, a well-known and secure antivirus provider that consistently shows excellent independent test results.
Most importantly, my tests showed that Total Adblock successfully eliminates the most dangerous adware variants, making it an excellent choice for improving online safety.
Its privacy policy also raises no concerns about how it handles users’ data. It only collects information necessary for internal purposes and does not share personal data with third parties. This means that your online activities remain private and personal information strictly confidential.
However, make sure that you only download Total Adblock from its official website or a reputable app store, as any other source could be infected with malware.
Total Adblock features
While its list of features may seem relatively small, Total Adblock provides excellent protection from adware. It can block different types of ads and gives you enough customization to ensure secure and botherless browsing online. Specifically, it blocks the following types of ads and trackers:
- Contextual advertising. This is a common advertising type, and it relies on the placement of the ads on the website. You won’t see ads all over the page after blocking these. In my tests, Total Adblock successfully got rid of Google Adsense and Yandex Direct.
- Analytic tools. These are not ads but trackers that monitor what you click on the site and what content or ads you interact with. Total Adblock successfully blocked Google Analytics and Hotjar.
- Banner advertising. This includes most common ads like banners, GIF images, static images, pop-ups, page push ads, etc. Total Adblock managed to block all of them.
- Error monitoring. This one monitors how well the site was loaded, what content broke when loading, etc. Not very important to block, as it only gives feedback to developers on their site. Total Adblock blocked Bugsnag monitoring; however, it did not stop Sentry from monitoring my activity.
- In-video ads. These are video ads that are shown on websites or streaming platforms like YouTube, Twitch, or any other platform. Total Adblock managed to block video ads very well.
Acceptable Ads
The Acceptable Ads feature works like a whitelist feature and allows you to choose websites where you don’t mind seeing ads.
To enable this feature, you simply need to provide all the links to pages where seeing ads is allowed. In turn, Total Adblock will omit these sites from their script-based ad blocking.
Pop-up Blocker
When enabled, Pop-up Blocker stops all notifications from the browser. Alternatively, if there are any sites where you wish to see pop-up ads, then you can whitelist them the same as with ads.
The whitelisted pages will still send you notifications; all you need is to put in their URL addresses to exclude them from the block list.
Filters
The Filters feature is only available on Android and iOS devices. It allows the users to filter out different types of content including, but not limited to:
- Irritating elements (cookie notices, third-party widgets)
- Online trackers that collect your activity data
- Mobile ads (blocks known mobile ad networks)
- Social media widgets, etc.
Compatibility
Although Total Adblock pricing plans are split into free and premium options, the compatibility across both remains the same. To be precise, you can utilize the service on Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Vivaldi web browsers. However, to set it up on Opera and Vivaldi, you must first download it from the Chrome Web Store.
Previously, Total Adblock was also available on Firefox, but it’s no longer supported. Additionally, you can’t get a browser extension for Safari.
Android and iOS users can set up the Total Adblock app on their devices and, this way, block adware while browsing online.
Interface and ease of use
Version | Use |

Total Adblock is fit to work with almost all popular browsers and can even be downloaded as an app to your Android and iOS mobile devices. All the same features are available throughout all browser versions of this ad blocker, so you won’t get a lesser option just because of your browser choice. On the other hand, when it comes to the app versions, the Android one has the most features available.
Unfortunately, the Firefox browser extension is no longer available to add as of the time of writing this article.

The iOS Total Adblock app is available on the App Store. This is a truly excellent iOS ad blocker option and our top-rated one for iPhone and iPad devices.
The app is well-designed and easy to navigate. The Account section is on a separate tab, so are the settings to customize your use.
This Total Adblock version offers all the features you can want. It includes:

The Android version is available to download depending on your OS version. There’s one version for Android 1-7 and another for Android 8. Additionally, we rate Total Adblock as the best ad blocker for Android devices.

Total Adblock test results
To truly understand Total Adblock's capabilities, I also tested this provider with various third-party testing tools in tandem with our in-house testing methods.
Our in-house testing proved that this ad blocker is truly a remarkable tool. It can block various pop-up and video ads and deliver great results without a paid subscription, too. Total Adblock can also prevent YouTube ads on your browser and block Facebook ads and trackers.
In-house testing
In my tests, I used Total Adblock on various platforms like Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. The setup process on desktops was very easy, as Total Adblock comes as a browser extension for these devices. So, you can activate the ad blocker with just a few clicks.
On mobile devices, the process is a bit more complicated. For Android, there is no native app on the Google Play Store. This means that you need to download the APK file from their website and then configure it. iOS has an app, but it also requires more steps than the desktop counterpart. However, Total Adblock guides you through the whole process, which helps a lot.
I found that upgrading from the free version to the paid version was effortless. I just needed to pay for a subscription, and Total Adblock upgraded my plan automatically.
Overall, my experience using Total Adblock was one of the best, compared to other providers. I liked that all ads were fully removed, without leaving strange residues in their place or interfering with website structure. Plus, there were no native ads by Total Adblock itself. All of this also made websites load faster, saving time.
Testing using independent testing tools
Independent testing tools confirm my in-house experience. These tests were performed with the Total Adblock Chrome extension:
- Can You Block It. Here, the site is loaded with many different types of ads, and then it checks how the provider managed to block this adware. The test I ran showed that Total Adblock blocked all possible ads.
- AdBlock Tester. This test works similarly to Can You Block It but also provides a score out of 100. Total Adblock scored 97/100. The only place of struggle was error trackers; the ad blocker didn’t manage to block all of them.
- Cover Your Tracks. This test focuses on trackers: blocking tracking ads, removing invisible trackers, and protecting from fingerprinting. Total Adblock successfully blocked tracking ads and invisible trackers.
Customer support
Total Adblock customer service is reachable using the various avenues you’d expect from a top-quality online product regardless of which pricing plan you’ve picked.

Once you click on the Support tab in the extension, you’ll get redirected to TotalAV’s help center. From there, you’ll get to pick what product requires support – TotalAV's antivirus, password manager, VPN, or ad blocker.
This help center offers FAQ pages with answers to only the most frequently asked questions. However, if the answer doesn’t help you, you can click on “No” and then be redirected to the ticket form.
When I contacted the support agents with my questions, I had to wait for 2-3 minutes to be connected with an agent. However, the first agent seemed like a bot, and since they couldn’t help me, I was redirected to another agent to help me with my issue.
Unfortunately, Total Adblock only offers phone line support for those seeking assistance with billing preferences.
If you wish to cancel your subscription, you can easily do so yourself with the help of Total Adblock’s cancelation guide.
Total Adblock not working: troubleshooting guide
While using Total Adblock, you might encounter certain issues that require troubleshooting. Here are the most common instances of such issues:
- “Harmful to Devices” alert. Since there is no app for Android phones on the Google Play Store, you have to download an APK file. As the APK file is outside the Google Play Store, phones tend to mark it as a dangerous app. However, the alert doesn’t mean that the file is dangerous. It’s only meant to inform you that the file contains features outside of what Google Play Store allows. These features are necessary for Total Adblock to be able to block ads.
- Unsuccessful payment. This error can mean anything: your bank blocked the transaction, you don’t have enough funds, there’s a connection error, etc. How to solve this problem is hard to answer – contact your bank or try again in a couple of minutes or the next day. Additionally, if you have a VPN, you can try to disable it or restart the device.
- Subscription cancelation issues. Total Adblock has a simple guide with screenshots on their website to help you with this. It includes instructions on how to uninstall the ad blocker and cancel your subscription based on the payment you used to purchase it.
