Is Plesk a good choice?
Plesk is a good control panel alternative to cPanel for medium-sized businesses, especially if you’re managing multiple servers at the same time. It’s also great if you require integrations for specific tools such as Docker, Ruby, Laravel, Node.js, and Git, and support for VPS and cloud computing. Plesk also includes security and automation features and offers its own dedicated 24/7 support.
However, large enterprises and businesses might find Plesk a little too limited in terms of scalability. Plesk is not optimized for modern approaches and applications native to the cloud. The migration from other control panels might also be complicated, and the learning curve can be steep for beginners. Alternatives to Plesk could be cPanel, Cloudway, or native hosting provider control panels, such as hPanel from Hostinger.
Best Plesk web hosting – our detailed list:
To help you pick the right Plesk host, we tested 58 hosting providers based on their server performance, Plesk compatibility, customer service, and security features. We list the best web hosting providers for Plesk below.
1. Hostinger – overall best Plesk host
Rating: | |
Plesk installation: | Automatic |
Storage: | From 50GB |
Current deal: | Get up to 69% OFF Hostinger VPS |
Hostinger is the best Plesk web host on our list. It provides flexible, affordable, and up-to-date Plesk hosting, with extensive customer support. Thanks to its high performance and ease of use, Hostinger is equally suitable for personal sites and business websites with bigger projects.
Hostinger Plesk VPS pricing
Hostinger includes pre-installed Plesk with all of its KVM VPS plans, with a 30-day money-back guarantee (and a 14-day trial for Plesk licenses). Here’s what else Hostinger Plesk plans include:
- KVM1 – $4.64/month, 1 vCPU core, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB storage, 4 TB bandwidth
- KVM2 – $5.57/month, 2 vCPU cores, 8 GB RAM, 100 GB storage, 8 TB bandwidth
- KVM4 – $9.76/month, 4 vCPU cores, 16 GB RAM, 200 GB storage, 16 TB bandwidth
- KVM8 – $18.59/month, 8 vCPU cores, 32 GB RAM, 400 GB storage, 32 TB bandwidth
My experience with Hostinger Plesk hosting – very good 5/5
It was very easy to set up Plesk with Hostinger. I only needed to select Plesk in the “OS with Panel” section of hPanel – it was set up automatically. The only thing to do after was activate the Plesk 14-day free trial (no credit card needed). Otherwise, you’ll just need to purchase a Plesk license via Hostinger. What I especially liked was that since Plesk licenses are managed separately from hosting, I always get the latest Plesk versions. On top of Plesk hosting, Hostinger includes regular backups, malware scanners, and snapshots for restoring previous versions. It also has an AI assistant that’s capable of quickly answering Plesk-related inquiries. For more details on what it’s like to use Hostinger, check out the Hostinger review.
2. Liquid Web – best Plesk hosting for established businesses
Rating: | |
Plesk installation: | Automatic |
Storage: | From 40GB |
Current deal: | Get up to 85% OFF Liquid Web VPS |
Liquid Web offers customizable, fast, and secure Plesk hosting with extensive features. It’s best suited for more advanced websites that require reliable performance and ease of use.
Liquid Web Plesk VPS plans
Liquid Web makes Plesk available with its Managed VPS and Windows VPS plans. All plans come with a money-back guarantee, free migrations, and multi-level DDoS protection:
- Essential – $8.85/month, 2 vCPU cores, 2 GB RAM, 40 GB storage, 10 TB bandwidth
- Advanced – $14.85/month, 4 vCPU cores, 4 GB RAM, 100 GB storage, 10TB bandwidth
- Standard dedicated – $39.50/month, 4 CPU cores, 16 GB RAN, 480 GB storage, 10 TB bandwidth
My experience with Liquid Web Plesk hosting – very good 5/5
It is just as easy to set up Plesk with Liquid Web as it was with Hostinger. I chose the Plesk control panel at checkout, and it was automatically installed on the virtual private server. I had no further issues with Liquid Web, and the performance test results discussed in the Liquid Web review stayed true when hosting with Plesk as well. One feature that stood out to me was the mobile manager with which I could handle the server administration directly from my phone. However, I have to say that Liquid Web’s VPS pricing is higher than Hostinger’s while offering virtually the same resources and features – that’s why this provider is not the first on my list.
3. HostGator – best dedicated server Plesk hosting
Rating: | |
Plesk installation: | Automatic |
Storage: | from 1000 GB |
Current deal: | Get up to 81% OFF HostGator |
HostGator offers Plesk hosting with its dedicated hosting plans, so it’s the best choice for enterprises. Beginners and intermediate users might find the dedicated hosting plans too expensive.
HostGator Plesk hosting pricing
You can use Plesk with all HostGator dedicated hosting plans. HostGator plans all come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. All plan tiers include unmetered bandwidth and malware scanning.
- Value – $141.19/month, 8 CPU cores, 32 GB RAM, 1000 GB storage
- Power – $217.19/month, 16 CPU cores, 64 GB RAM, 2000 GB storage
- Enterprise – $312.19/month, 32 CPU cores, 128 GB RAM, 3000 GB storage
My experience with HostGator Plesk hosting – good 4/5
Dedicated hosting is the most expensive hosting type, so naturally HostGator Plesk plans are more premium than Hostinger and Liquid Web – I was quite disappointed to find Plesk was not available with VPS subscriptions. However, the overall HostGator Plesk setup was as simple as with Hostinger – the license is included with the chosen plan and the latest Plesk version gets automatically installed. As noted in the HostGator review, I also appreciated the support: the agents were quick to answer, and I found a lot of useful information about Plesk in the knowledge center.
4. DreamHost – Plesk hosting with usage-based pricing
Rating: | |
Plesk installation: | Manual |
Storage: | 100 GB |
Current deal: | Get DreamHost, now 72% OFF |
DreamHost Plesk hosting is only supported on DreamCompute (a cloud hosting service), but you can still purchase a Plesk license and install it manually on DreamHost VPS plans. Otherwise, the DreamCompute service is best for enterprises, and its prices depend on the resources you need.
DreamHost Plesk hosting pricing
DreamHost DreamCompute has 3 basic plans with a maximum cost (per month and per hour) – the prices could be lower if you don’t end up using up all the resources:
- 512 MB RAM server – up to $4.50/month, 1 vCPU, 80 GB disk, 100 GB block storage
- 2 GB RAM server – up to $12.00/month, 1 vCPU core, 80 GB disk, 100 GB block storage
- 8 GB RAM server – up to $48.00/month, 4 vCPU cores, 80 GB disk, 100 GB block storage
My experience with DreamHost Plesk hosting – average 3/5
Unfortunately, unlike Hostinger, Liquid Web, and HostGator, I had to install Plesk manually – DreamHost only officially supports Plesk on its cloud service DreamCompute. This means that setting up Plesk requires technical expertise, so I don’t recommend it for beginners or intermediate users. Additionally, since Plesk is not directly supported by DreamHost, there are no tutorials or other help with Plesk installation from DreamHost. Nevertheless, DreamHost has numerous security features: firewall, free SSL, and domain protection – you can find more information in the DreamHost review.
5. IONOS – the cheapest Plesk hosting provider on the list
Rating: | |
Plesk installation: | Manual |
Storage: | From 10 GB |
Current deal: | Get up to 91% OFF IONOS |
IONOS is the cheapest host for Plesk on this list – available with Windows and Linux VPS plans. All VPS plans also include Plesk Web Host Edition for free – it offers unlimited domains and maximum site management flexibility.
IONOS Plesk VPS hosting pricing
IONOS VPS plans all come with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and offer good resources for prices even cheaper than Hostinger:
- XS – $2.00/month, 1 vCPU core, 1 GB RAM, 10 GB storage
- S – $3.00/month, 2 vCPU cores, 2 GB RAM, 80 GB storage
- M – $6.00/month, 2 vCPU cores, 4 GB RAM, 180 GB storage
- L – $10.00/month, 4 vCPU cores, 8 GB RAM, 240 GB storage
- XL – $15.00/month, 8 vCPU cores, 16 GB RAM, 320 GB storage
- XXL – $30.00/month, 12 vCPU cores, 24 GB RAM, 640 GB storage
My experience with IONOS Plesk hosting – average 3/5
IONOS may be affordable, but the low prices mean compromises in other areas – unlike Hostinger, Liquid Web, and even HostGator, IONOS doesn’t offer automatic installations. Overall, purchasing a VPS plan was easy, but it didn’t include pre-installed Plesk. I needed to purchase and generate Plesk license myself via the IONOS cloud panel, and then install Plesk manually. When it comes to any updated versions, you also need to purchase and install them yourself, as the host does not take care of it. Also, in our IONOS tests, we found it difficult to get hold of a support agent via the live chat, so if you run into issues while installing Plesk, support might take a while to get back to you.

How we tested and ranked Plesk hosting
The Cybernews research team and I reviewed and evaluated 58 hosting providers. We further tested the hosts that offer Plesk hosting, taking into account their setup, security, performnce, and other metrics:
- Plesk setup and features (35%). Some providers offer automatic Plesk installation with all their plans, and others require manual installation. We prioritized Plesk hosts that offer automatic installation. However, we also included hosts that require you to set up Plesk manually simply because the price-to-value ratio was rather good. Furthermore, the providers with AI tools were placed higher.
- Price-to-value ratio (25%). Since Plesk is usually available with VPS, dedicated, or even cloud hosting plans, it's important to take into account which resources the provider offers and whether the pricing is adequate. I compared providers with each other to determine which has the best offer.
- Performance (20%). We monitored the providers' performance for the next 1-2 months. We used Pingdom by SolarWinds to test uptime and server response time, k6 by Grafana Labs for stress testing, and GTmetrix to monitor site loading time. Performance results were also taken into consideration for the final ranking.
- Security (20%). Site and server security is extremely important when hosting any site, and especially if you're managing multiple servers or hosting a large site. I evaluated whether the hosts offer basic security features, and which advanced security tools are available.
What is Plesk hosting?
Plesk hosting is a way to create and manage a website using Plesk’s control panel. It’s one of the best alternatives to cPanel. You can use Plesk on virtual and dedicated servers, and it also works on both Linux and Windows.
With Plesk, you get a user-friendly dashboard where you can manage all aspects of your server in one place. Thanks to over 100 extensions, it’s very comprehensive too. There are apps to enhance your security, design websites more easily, improve SEO, optimize speed, and more.
Is Plesk more secure than cPanel?
Plesk and cPanel are very similar in terms of security and offer good, well-rounded security packages. However, cPanel might be a little more user-friendly when it comes to setting up security, as most things come pre-set up and are easy to navigate. Additionally, there are some differences in the security features each control panel offers. For example, cPanel includes plugin update monitoring, while Plesk allows individual IP blacklisting. Ultimately, both cPanel and Plesk are very secure, so it all depends on your needs and personal preferences.
Final thoughts
Plesk hosting is a great alternative to cPanel. With the Plesk control panel, you can easily and quickly manage the deployment of your site as well as the day-to-day tasks required to maintain it.
Plesk is an all-in-one tool for website admins and developers. It lets you manage multiple servers, is user-friendly, and has a range of automation tools.
However, Plesk hosting quality varies from provider to provider. Some hosts only allow manual installations for Plesk, don’t have adequate customer service, are slow, or lack security features.
According to our reviews and research, Hostinger is the #1 host for Plesk on our list. It supports Plesk's latest version, Obsidian, is fast and reliable, and has a diverse range of security tools. Plus, it has an excellent customer service team who are experts in all things Plesk.

Is Plesk good for hosting?
Yes, Plesk is a widely used control panel for hosting management. It includes various tool integrations like Node.js, Git, Ruby, and others, as well as security features. However, Plesk could be difficult to learn for beginners, and it’s best suited for medium-sized businesses.

Alternative Plesk options that various users turn to are Cloudways, DirectAdmin, ApisCP, or native control panels from various hosting providers, such as hPanel from Hostinger.
Is Plesk better than cPanel for WordPress?
Whether Plesk or cPanel is better for WordPress depends on your preferences. I prefer Plesk for WordPress because its design is more modern and the pricing is better.
