Social media users have turned President Donald Trump’s attendance at the Men’s US Open into a viral moment, despite the media’s best efforts to keep criticism of the president out of the public eye.
President Donald Trump attended the final of the Men’s US Open, which saw Carlos Alcaraz reclaim the title of world’s number one from Jannik Sinner.
However, the battle for the title wasn’t the most interesting thing about the match, as President Trump managed to pull focus and disrupt the game.
Firstly, the president's presence caused a 45-minute delay in admitting attendees, causing many to miss the match.
Former professional tennis player, Martina Navratilova, posted the disruptions to X, saying that “this is the outside right now,” showing hordes of people queuing to get into the stadium.

The Secret Service said that ensuring the president’s safety “required comprehensive effort” that “may have contributed to delays for attendees,” The Guardian reported.
Despite being on native soil, Trump was booed by crowds at the US Open held in New York City.

Reactions to Trump’s reception at the match were to be expected, as some social media users call him the “most hated president ever in history.”
“The most hated president in my lifetime,” said one user.
Another X user brought attention to the fact that Trump, who is a New York native, is hated by his own city.
“When is he gonna learn New Yorkers hate him? He’s from Queens, and his own borough hates him.”
