Hold up, Spotify: Netflix Wrapped is also here (but it’s unofficial)

No, Netflix will not create its own Spotify Wrapped-style review of your year in streaming. However, a video editing company has created a tool allowing you to see what your binges looked like in 2024.

The aforementioned company, Kapwing, uses your uploaded Netflix viewing data to reveal numbers around stats like the day when you spent the most time staring at the screen, or total watch time.

Kapwing is a legitimate company, apparently choosing to not store or collect your viewing data. It states: “Your data is not uploaded to our servers nor stores for any reason.” The data is only used locally to create your wrapped report.

“Ever since Spotify came out with its own Wrapped, we felt that it should be easy to find more insights about the things we watch in addition to what we listen to! The problem is, Netflix doesn't offer a Wrapped even though the raw data is available,” Kapwing says.

“We wanted to build an easy way to showcase the things we watched on Netflix in 2024 – and that resulted in the unofficial Netflix Wrapped.”

How does it work, then? Well, firstly, you need to go to your Netflix account and head to the viewing activity page. You can then download your viewing data to your computer in the spreadsheet-friendly .csv format by clicking on “Download all.”

When you do that, simply upload the viewing data onto Kapwing’s website and allow it to crunch the numbers. The Kapwing analysis will show how many minutes you’ve streamed and how many days per year it translates to.

The company will also reveal which shows you binged on while, say, pretending to be sick in bed in order to stream an entire season of a certain series. And if you don’t know yet, the feature will also tell you which actor you stare at most often – and many other things.

Well, I tried it out. My hunch that Netflix isn’t really an attractive streaming option to me personally because the platform has joined the enshittification fever was correct, it seems.

That’s because I only spent 7,574 minutes on Netflix in 2024 – that’s 127 hours or around five days. I watched 24 shows and 22 movies, and obviously, I did not finish at least some of them.

Weirdly, the unofficial Netflix Wrapped tells me that Joe Rogan Questions Everything was the show I binged the hardest (two episodes in a row, wowza).

For the life of me, I can’t remember watching anything connected to Rogan (mostly because I despise the guy) – so I will blame Autoplay. Then again, Kapwing also says it’s the worst show I’ve watched, so all good.

We’ve noticed that in the case of Spotify Wrapped, many users are trying to rig their Wrapped list to avoid shame and embarrassment – as if they can’t simply choose to not share it.

I don’t care about all that. And since users can share their unofficial Netflix Wrapped 2024 stats, here they are – enjoy.
