Netflix has just announced the fight of the year between former YouTuber prankster turned professional boxer Jake Paul and two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. This is shaping up to be the streaming platform's biggest event of the year.
Last year, 108 million users tuned into the monumental battle between boxing legend Mike Tyson and former YouTuber Jake Paul.
Despite a glitchy stream, the fight was record-breaking for Netflix, and now, the platform has announced that Paul and two-time heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua will face off in the ring.
Much like the Tyson-Paul fight, this is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, and may lead to Netflix breaking another streaming record.
Joshua is a British boxer who Netflix has said that many established fighters would spend their life trying to avoid.
However, Paul wants to face the challenge head-on in December 2025 in Miami.

The fight between the Olympic gold medalist and the former YouTuber-turned-professional boxer will be streamed globally, exclusively on Netflix.
Paul mentioned Joshua’s name in an interview with Netflix, as a “test he eventually wanted,” Netflix’s Tudum said.
“Anthony Joshua…100 percent. I want a challenge. I want a challenge always,” Paul said in the interview.
Paul entered the heavyweight ranks after beating Tyson last year, which also destroyed viewership records for Netflix.
“This isn’t an AI simulation,” Paul told Netflix, potentially referencing his recent collaboration with OpenAI’s Sora, where he licensed his name, image, and likeness (NIL) to Sora’s Cameo service.
People have been asking me “Jake why are there all these AI videos of you on the internet?!”

There’s a method to the madness…

“When I beat Anthony Joshua, every doubt disappears, and no one can deny me the opportunity to fight for a world title. To all my haters, this is what you wanted. To the people of the United Kingdom, I am sorry,” Paul said.
Joshua, who has various fighting accolades, said he’s “about to break the internet over Jake Paul’s face.”
How to watch Paul vs Joshua on Netflix
The fight is set to stream globally on Netflix, included in the plan at no extra cost, Netflix said.
Paul vs Joshua will take place in Miami on December 14th, and users can log in as normal and select the event from the homepage.
While Paul vs Tyson was a spectacular event that amassed hundreds of millions of streams, the nature of this fight might just break new records.
Be prepared for the internet to break, as Joshua said, and for Netflix’s streaming service to potentially crash.
Hopefully, the streaming service will be able to handle the demand.
