Restaurant sued over TikTok video that exposed a dark secret

One man was caught cheating on his wife in a viral TikTok video. Legal action is now being taken against the restaurant that exposed him.
A 42-year-old man has seemingly been caught cheating on his wife after a restaurant in Italy exposed his affair.
The man from Catania, Italy, claimed he was taking a client to dinner, but instead, he was on a dinner date with his secret affair, according to Dextero, which cites local media.
The date was supposedly caught on camera in a promotional video for the restaurant, which was later uploaded to TikTok.
The man’s wife apparently saw the viral video once it was released and said that she was planning to leave him.
Following the viral video, the Italian consumer rights group Codacons is taking legal action on the man’s behalf.
A representative claims that the restaurant should not be allowed to film clients without their consent and should have explicit consent when posting videos of patrons online.
“In certain cases, the publication of a video can have very serious effects on a person’s private life and family life,” Francesco Tanasi, a Codancons representative, told Dextero.
The Italian consumer rights group has stated that it will potentially take matters further and escalate proceedings to the Italian data protection authority.
A similar situation occurred in July of last year when another high-profile affair went viral on TikTok.
A clip from Coldplay’s Massachusetts show went viral on social media after a prominent CEO and his colleague were caught sharing an intimate moment.
Andy Byron, the CEO of tech company Astronomer, was caught red-handed at a Coldplay concert in Massachusetts.
The tech mogul was caught on the concert’s kiss-cam hugging a woman from behind – a woman who wasn’t his wife.
Instead, it was revealed that Byron was having an affair with Kristin Cabot, the company’s human resources officer.
