Kindle Scribe: AI comes to Amazon’s first colored notebook

Users can expect their new notebook to have AI-powered features.

Amazon introduced several new products during its fall product launch event, including Echo speakers, Blink cameras, and a new Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Among the new products, the company also announced a “redesigned” Kindle Scribe lineup.

Amazon shared that the new Kindle Scribe boasts a new design “that’s just like paper.” The device is 5.4mm in thickness and weighs 400g.

The gadget also includes an 11-inch screen with a glare-free display.

The company shares that the new Scribe was created to mimic an actual paper sheet, giving users the feeling that they’re writing on one.

To provide users with such an experience, Amazon Kindle Scribe includes a number of hardware-related changes, such as adding a front light system with LEDs to give the user more “uniform lighting,” and “texture-molded glass” that prevents the display from feeling slippery.

The new Scribe is now also available in color. According to the company, the latest devices are powered by Amazon’s custom-built Colorsoft display technology and boast “weeks of battery life.”

The new device lineup also includes some AI-powered features, such as receiving AI-written summaries of one’s notes and asking questions. A new feature, available in the future, allows sending notes and documents to Alexa+.

Kindle Scribe will also include AI-powered features focused on improving the reading experience. With the Story So Far feature, users will be able to return to a book and start it from where they last read it, while the Ask this Book feature will provide users with information without spoiling the plot.

The new features will be available for Kindle iOS app users in the US later this year and for Kindle device users in early 2026.
