In today’s “What’s wrong with the iPhone 17 series?” owners add discolorization to the list

Apple’s latest smartphone series has already been reported to have connectivity issues and random scratches. Now, users say that their smartphones are changing color.

Apple introduced its latest smartphone, the iPhone 17 series, last month. In just a few weeks, the lineup has already received a lot of attention, and not all of it has been positive.

Some iPhone 17 owners who purchased these devices in “Cosmic Orange" are reporting that their smartphones have turned from bright orange to pink.

One of the first Apple users to notice that their iPhone Pro Max had turned “rose gold” shared it on Reddit, writes BGR.

The user, who showed the images of their phone, was even called out for faking the photos. However, multiple posts were shared by other netizens who faced the same issue, hinting that the issue could be much broader.

Owners of different iPhone 17 models shared multiple images that show different parts of their devices turning from bright orange to pinkish.

Some users reported that the discolorization happened even though they were using a case.

Users mock another issue with the iPhone 17

The posts about the changed smartphone colors started a discussion on Reddit. Some netizens liked the “new” color and found clever ways for iPhone 17 owners to deal with this issue, even making some money.

“Maybe OP has bad PH balance and sweaty hands,” joked one Redditor, with another user noting: “Me when my $1000+ device requires a specific pH balance to not get discolored.”

“It will be worth more on eBay. That's for sure. Limited edition,” wrote another user.

“Not Apple, but Blood Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max,” added one netizen. One user renamed Apple’s latest smartphone to “iPhone 17 Pro Salmon.”

“Congrats, you are one of five lucky Apple winners who gets to tour the Apple facilities for finding one of five Rose Gold iPhone 17s hidden in the world,” joked another Redditor, referring to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie.

Another Reddit post revealed that one user, who noticed their smartphone changing colors after only four days of use, was able to get it replaced by the company.

The issue also prompted netizens to speculate what could have prompted this change.

“So many people just want to blame OP instead of admitting Apple messed up. Apple is not perfect and is capable of making mistakes, and it is ok to admit that,” noted one user.

Some users believed that the smartphones could also be affected by the sun.

However, multiple netizens explained that discoloring is common in aluminum devices, which the iPhone 17 and its Pro and Pro Max models are made from, especially when they come in bright colors.

“These are things a company has to look into, especially if you are dropping a new, brighter, and saturated color,” concluded the user.

Multiple issues with the iPhone 17 series

After the company released its iPhone 17 smartphones, including the latest addition to the lineup, the iPhone 17 Air, those who already had the opportunity to try it out reported multiple issues with their new devices.

The first hiccup that Apple had to take care of was related to its design when the first owners of the iPhone 17 revealed that they received devices that were already scratched.

Later, users of the iPhone 17 series reported problems with WiFi connectivity, which would occasionally cut out.
