Foldable iPhone: possible release date, price, and more

2026 may be the year when a foldable iPhone sees the light of day.

While foldable smartphones may not be a total innovation, with several companies having already released their own variants, Apple has yet to hit the market with its own foldable device.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shares his latest predictions on what to expect from the company’s future foldable.

According to the analyst, it may be “a true AI-driven phone” with a larger screen, making it easier to multitask. For example, a user would be able to use AI to arrange travel plans while checking maps at the same time.

When it comes to device specifications, the iPhone is expected to have a “book-style design,” with a 7.8-inch inner and about 5.5-inch outer display.

The device might not have Face ID due to its thickness, which may be around 9–9.5mm when folded and 4.5–4.8mm when unfolded. Because of this, the company might bring back Touch ID as a side button.

It’s been reported that the final specs could be confirmed during the second quarter of this year while mass production could take place in the fall of 2026.

The analyst also revealed estimated shipment predictions, saying that it could reach three to five million units in 2026.

Marketed as Apple’s future top-tier smartphone, the foldable iPhone could be priced between $2,000 and $2,500.
