Gemini 1.5 Flash: a makeover that makes AI-tool faster and smarter

Google launched its upgraded artificial intelligence (AI) tool version, Gemini 1.5 Flash, which is available for free.

With the issued upgrade, users can ask Gemini “more complex” questions and have longer conversations thanks to Gemini’s quadrupled number of tokens, known as the smallest unit of information used by AI to understand human language.

In addition to faster and smarter replies and a larger context window, Gemini will soon allow users to upload files from Google Drive or directly from their device. The AI tool will also be able to analyze data files and provide insights through charts and graphics.

Many users use Gemini as a research tool, so it will now show “links to related content for fact-seeking prompts.”

Gemini users can access “additional information” directly from AI-provided responses in selected countries. To do that, they have to click on the “chip” at the end of a paragraph, which will show websites with information about certain topics.

Gemini is also working on ways to reduce showing inaccurate or misleading information, also known as AI hallucinations. Gemini’s double-check feature will verify the information and flag any “corroborated or contradicted” statements.

The AI tool will also become available on Google Messages in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, and Switzerland. Users will also be able to add new languages, such as French, Spanish, and Polish. The company also shared that Gemini’s mobile application will be introduced to more countries.

Soon, teenagers worldwide will also get access to the AI tool in 40 languages. “Teens who meet the minimum age requirement to manage their own Google Account will be able to access Gemini to do things like better understand school subjects, prepare for university, or get help with creative projects,” states Google.
