Some of Apple’s latest smartphones may require less time to charge.
Since the release of the iPhone 14 in 2022, Apple has also offered US customers the option of buying a model with an eSIM.
With the recent release of the iPhone 17, the company added a longer battery life to models that come with eSIM.
While Apple must reveal iPhone model battery capacities in Europe, not all battery capacities in the US variants are clear, reports BGR.
Nevertheless, information on the battery capacities for the iPhone 17 series is already known, revealing that the battery (3,692 mAh) has a 4% increase in comparison with the iPhone 16, while the iPhone 17 Pro (4,252 mAh) battery has a 19% increase compared with its predecessor. iPhone 17 Pro Max (4,252 mAh) gets a 9% increase in battery life compared to the iPhone 16 Pro.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max with an e-SIM variant can play up to 39 hours of video streaming, while the iPhone 17 Pro plays 33 hours, and the iPhone Air just 30 hours.
The “European” iPhone 17 Pro Max can play 37 hours of video streaming, while the iPhone 17 Pro can play 31 hours. Nothing changes for the iPhone 17 Air since it comes with an e-SIM worldwide.
Those who are thinking of purchasing the latest iPhone should note that buying the iPhone 17 with an e-SIM won’t give them a bigger battery. But those who think of getting a Pro version can extend their battery life for two hours by getting a smartphone from one of these regions: The US, the US Virgin Islands, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Mexico, Kuwait, Japan, Guam, and Bahrain.
It’s not yet known whether Apple will release the iPhone 17 eSIM variant in more countries.
Users should keep in mind that they can use an eSIM-only iPhone if their local carrier supports eSIM.
The iPhone 17 pre-orders start on September 12th, with the official release scheduled for September 19th, 2025.
