Samsung may be lacking an accessory in its future smartphones and users are already unhappy about it.
“It appears Samsung might be getting rid of the Built-in S-Pen in the Future Ultra to make more room,” wrote X user and tipster Panda Flash Pro. The change would affect the Galaxy S Ultra models.
Samsung could remove the S Pen because it needs more space for the device’s battery, which currently has 5,000mAh.
The tipster also added that the change isn’t expected to be implemented with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which would still have the S Pen.

Samsung’s next smartphone is expected to be released in 2026, and the Galaxy S27 Ultra is predicted to be launched in 2027.
The post started a discussion online, with one user stating: “Samsung should keep the S-pen. It is the speed and capabilities that is interesting to us.”
The original poster then explained that the company is “facing space issues in the current development – that’s the reason they are not adding bigger camera sensors,” further explaining that for this reason, Samsung might remove the S Pen for future smartphones, starting with S27 Ultra.
Other X users also expressed their discontent with the possible changes in the Samsung Galaxy Ultra series.
“The Ultra without S pen is not Ultra anymore,” wrote one.
“This will make noise everywhere among tech influencers and customers that liked and/or never used the SPen,” noted another.
When it comes to the reason why the company might scrap the pen, one user reminded that Samsung has been working on developing an all-solid-state battery.
“Solid State battery [...] can increase the amount of power by around 15% with the same size,” wrote the user online, also expressing their suspicion that the battery isn’t why the company may be removing the pen, and perhaps doing it for the profit.
“Samsung should get rid of making phones. Thats the best cost-cutting they can do!” added another commentator.
The company’s latest smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, already has some alterations to its S Pen.
It’s been reported that the pen doesn’t include Air Actions features that would allow one to control the smartphone using gestures to open an app, go back to the home screen, or make a screenshot.
