Samsung’s new update getting phones stuck in boot loop

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 series models, as well as a few others, appear to be affected.

When you install an update on your device, you expect it to improve your user experience. Updates usually add new features and help ensure that your device stays secure.

However, in the past few days, we saw proof that this isn’t always the case, when users who installed an optional Windows update experienced a number of issues, including restart loops and blue screens of death.

Now, another update appears to be causing issues for owners of older Samsung devices.

As spotted by Android Authority, users on Reddit and some other platforms are claiming that their smartphones are stuck in a constant boot loop.

The glitch appears to affect all Samsung Galaxy S10 models, which were launched around five years ago. These include the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy Note 10, and Galaxy S10e.

Some reports also say that the Galaxy M51 and A90 are also affected.

One Redditor who claims to work in a cell phone store says several people came in with an S10 boot loop before the store was officially opened.

It’s not clear what caused the issue, though some users suggest a SmartThings Framework update.

The only fix for the issue currently appears to be a factory data reset, which means that all data must be erased from the device.

If you haven’t enabled automatic updates and have one of the listed smartphones, wait until Samsung fixes things before installing the update.
