Americans can now be online everywhere after Starlink Mini launch

SpaceX’s Starlink Mini fits into a backpack and allows you to stay online even in the most remote areas.

SpaceX's Starlink Mini, the smallest satellite dish that Starlink offers, is now available for US users.

“Starlink Mini is a compact, portable kit that can easily fit in a backpack, designed to provide high-speed, low-latency internet on the go,” shares the company.

The satellite was created for people who spend a lot of time outdoors, traveling, or working in places without cell service.

The satellite costs $599 and works with a monthly subscription that ranges from $50 to $150. The company provides a 30-day trial and doesn’t require users to sign a contract, so they can cancel the service anytime.

The device is 6.92 x 13.14 x 3.11 inches, similar to the size of a laptop, and weighs around 2.5 pounds or 1.1 kilograms. The satellite can operate in temperatures that range from -22°F to 122°F (-30°C to 50°C).

Up to 128 devices can connect to the satellite dish. In June, Elon Musk, the CEO of Space X, shared on X (formerly Twitter) the Starlink Mini's speed test results, which showed 100Mbps download speed, 11.5Mbps upload speed, and 23ms latency.

Speculation about the new satellite dish started a few months ago when a Ukrainian engineer shared information about the device on his X account.

It’s not yet known when, or if at all, the new satellite will be available in other countries.
