Popular streamer Asmongold has weighed in on fellow Twitch celebrity Hasan Piker, after his appearance at the College Democrats of America (CDA) convention, where Piker wore a jacket critics compared to Mao Zedong's attire and delivered an insurgent-style speech.
Asmongold claimed that Piker’s comments were “flying too close to the sun” and warned that the Twitch star is at risk when the “dam breaks and you get deplatformed everywhere,” adding that “I’m not advocating for this.”
In a 3-minute rant on the topic, Asmongold called out Piker's previous record and said, “This can’t keep going on…it’s extremely dangerous.”

What did Piker say at the convention?
Speaking at the CDA national convention on July 18th, Piker was wearing a Zhongshan suit, the revolutionary jacket adopted by Chinese revolutionary and dictator Mao Zedong during the Chinese Revolution in the early 20th century.
In an attempt at rallying the crowd, Piker took the opportunity to decry the Democratic Party and said:
"No more to the Democrats who compromise, who conciliate, and who betray us."
Piker's speech urged activists to reject Democrats who "compromise" with Republicans, fund ICE, or support Israel, positioning himself as an outsider pushing an "insurgency" within the party.
The name Mao-style suit just indicates how ignorant West MSM is about China. The cloth is called ‘Zhongshan suit’ 中山装, even Chinese today don’t call it Mao suit. The name is to honor Sun Zhongshan, the founder of Republic of China, not about Mao nor communist party at all.

Piker followed up on Zeteo’s We’re Not Kidding podcast, telling New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani to "shut the f___ up" and be more bold, as well as calling out defensive postures from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, branding her as “too optics driven.”
But strongest of all is Piker’s championing of the Chinese communist revolutionary Mao Zedong. Following his exploits at the convention, a video resurfaced of Piker saying in November last year that “Mao Zedong is one of the great leaders of this world,” and “a man who changed the entire universe.”
Despite Mao being responsible for tens of millions of deaths, Piker surmised, “there’s a lot of f__ excesses, let’s be real.”

Piker’s far-left leanings don’t stop there, however. Back in May, Piker was issued a subpoena following a trip to Cuba in which he helped deliver roughly 20 tonnes of humanitarian aid.
Fierce backlash
Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi mocked Piker’s antics, but stopped short of laughing off his speech entirely.
“Let’s appreciate how dangerous he is – Hasan Piker is not some fringe character,” she said after advising, “Let’s not just mock this clown.”
And on campus, the reaction among the CDA Jewish Caucus was even stronger. As reported by The Times of Israel, the CDA said in a statement:
“Elevating Piker at this convention sent Jewish students a clear message that they were not welcome.”
And much like Asmongold did, they didn’t hold back in reminding of Piker’s previous incidents of antisemitism, misogyny, as well as claiming that the US deserved 9/11.
