Meta has announced the launch of its next pair of smart glasses created in collaboration with Oakley, a sports and lifestyle brand, which could prove especially useful for athletes.
If you’re an athlete, get ready to splash out on this pair of glasses, which combine bold style with cutting-edge tech, according to Meta.
Meta’s latest product, which pairs “Oakley’s signature design DNA with Meta’s industry-leading technology”, features an IPX4 water resistance rating, a battery life double that of the Meta Ray-Bans, and an in-built AI assistant.
The enhanced battery life means that you can charge your glasses up to 50% in just 20 minutes — and they come along with a charging case that can deliver up to 48 hours of charging on the go.
Users will also be able to capture video in Ultra HD (3K), compared with the 1080p video that the Meta Ray-Bans are capable of recording.
The Limited-Edition Oakley Meta HSTN, featuring gold-colored accents and gold Oakley PRIZM lenses, which offer 100% UV protection, will be available for preorder from July 11th for $499.
They will be on sale in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. And the company is also working on bringing them to Mexico, India, and the United Arab Emirates later this year.
The rest of the collection is expected to drop later this summer, starting at $399. You can use the glasses to listen to music or podcasts, take photos, chat with Meta AI, or make/receive calls. Users can also swap the lenses for prescription optics at an extra cost.
