Steven Garcia missing: New Mexico UFO mystery deepens

The disappearance of Albuquerque government contractor Steven Garcia has intensified speculation around a possible pattern of missing defense-linked figures tied to the UFO disclosure narrative in New Mexico.
Steven Garcia, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, is the latest case of an individual with alleged UFO connections who has vanished. Garcia was last seen leaving his home on foot on August 28th, 2025, carrying a handgun.
Garcia had been working at the Kansas City National Security Campus and had access to sensitive defense infrastructure tied to US nuclear weapons components.
He becomes the tenth person under the umbrella of the US nuclear program that’s reportedly unaccounted for.
Garcia “oversaw tens of millions of dollars of assets, equipment, some classified, some not,” reporter Lauren Conlin told NewsNation’s Jesse Weber live last week.
The officials had said that he may have been a danger to himself. I did notice some neighbors in the area, and he lives in a very remote area. They also worked in aerospace research.
There’s a striking similarity to the ongoing case of General William Neil McCasland, who has been absent since February 27th this year, and was last seen in Bernalillo County, also in New Mexico.
McCasland was the former head of the Air Force Research Laboratory and Pentagon Special Programs, and was even referenced in UFO-related emails.
Working at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, also meant he spearheaded space weapons programs. Tellingly, there were rumors abound that the site contained UFO debris from Roswell, New Mexico, from an incident occurring in 1947.
And despite not being directly linked to one another, Conlin described an eerie sense of association: “It’s like the same thing. The same thing, the state of New Mexico.”

Redditors launch theories
There were incisive observations among the Reddit r/UFO community, with one user drawing a comparison to the sci-fi series 3 Body Problem, as originally observed by a whistleblower, whereby scientists' disappearances can be interpreted as an inside job.
Other comments brought to mind TV series like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, with a “go somewhere alone…and then wait there for my next signal” dynamic, especially given the New Mexico connection, which, incidentally, is where the shows are set.
What is quite common in the community is the ebb and flow of the discussion, with Redditors asking one another whether the disappearances are down to aliens or humans.
While it’s fair and well for the ongoing searches for Garcia and McCasland, there is a chilling and sinister air emerging in light of their disappearances, no matter the reason.
