YouTube down in worldwide outage


YouTube is experiencing an outage that is affecting thousands of users across the US, Europe, and potentially worldwide.

Users have reported experiencing issues with accessing content on the streaming platform YouTube today.

In the US, around 13,000 users have reported issues with YouTube, as 77% of people said that they experienced problems accessing the streaming platform’s website.

In the UK, over 5,000 users have reported problems accessing the YouTube website and streaming videos.

Cybernews attempted to access YouTube, where we received a “502 error” from Google.

Following the outage, Reddit posts have begun popping up that ask whether there are issues with YouTube’s servers.

“Is anyone else having trouble getting on the YouTube website?” one Redditor asked after questioning whether YouTube or Google’s servers were experiencing issues.

Cybernews was eventually able to access YouTube; however, we experienced significant lag when using the website.

YouTube seems to be down across the world, as many countries from the United States to Argentina appear to be having issues with YouTube.

YouTube outage resolved?

The YouTube outage has seemingly resolved itself as users in the US experiencing the outage has significantly dropped on Downdetector.

Similarly, reports of issues with YouTube dropped from over 5,000 to roughly 200 reports on Downdetector.

While users are still indicating problems with YouTube, many people report that YouTube is back up and running in the comments on the outage reporting platform.

Users speculate the reason behind the outage, with some saying that this could be due to a potential cyberattack.

However, no one from Google or YouTube have confirmed the reason behind the abrupt outage.
