Google Pixel users can now prioritize their contacts, receive message summaries, avoid scam calls, and more.
Google is adding new on-device AI-powered features to its Pixel smartphones.
One of the features is photo Remix in Google Messages, which allows users to edit photos without needing to leave the app. The new feature is based on Nano Banana, Gemini’s image generation and editing model.
The AI-based photo editing feature is also available in the Google Photos app, where users can ask the application to remove specific items or edit someone’s look.
Another AI-powered feature can now summarize long conversations in communication apps.
The company also added that next month, Pixel smartphones will also be capable of organizing and “silencing lower-priority notifications.”
Regarding prioritization, Pixel has rolled out another feature that now displays messages from users' close contacts (also known as VIPs) first.
US users of the Pixel 6 and newer smartphones can now also be notified of a potential scam received through chat notifications.
The Pixel smartphones will now also have a “Power Saving” mode that works while using Google Maps.
By pressing the power button, users will see “a simplified layout, showing only key information like next turns.” This way, users can save their phone battery and still get directions.
For fans of the movie Wicked: For Good, Google added Pixel wallpapers, icons, system sounds, and GIFs that were inspired by the film.
The company introduced its latest Google Pixel 10 smartphones in August, and its Pixel 10 Pro Fold was launched in October.
